While I was contemplating ways to innovate and make our teaching courses more engaging and productive for participants, the ZOOM application introduced its AI-generated meeting summary feature. It was a pleasant surprise for me as I was evaluating various tools to enhance our teaching methodology.

To clarify, I’m not exclusively endorsing ZOOM here, as many other competing online meeting platforms may have introduced similar AI-powered tools. That said, I have included an example of a meeting summary from one of the classes conducted during our ongoing Master the Mastoid Hybrid Hands-On Training Course with this message.

The digital transformation of education, especially after the pandemic, has thrown up new tools that changed the way teaching and learning take place. Among those, the meeting summary generated by ZOOM’s AI is a real game-changer, especially for educators, trainers, and students.

Having done more than 185 hours of online classes, ranging from Radiology of the Temporal Bone to Soft Skills for Doctors during Covid-19 Epidemic as part of Lockdown learning, I can only fathom how much more that feature would have made in those sessions. This development not only solves some major problems in online education but also opens up unprecedented possibilities for learning.

The big challenge with online education is to keep students engaged and retain information. Too much information in a prolonged session buries the important points amidst an ocean of information. As I reflect on this teaching experience, part of me can’t help but think that all those sessions would be so much better with AI-generated summaries using ZOOM about the discussion-and so much more clear in takeaway points from the students contributing to knowledge related to effectiveness in teaching. Rather, such a feature finds its broadest applications outside the conventional class environment. In professional, corporate, and medical education-sessions galore that I have conducted-the need for the same is more critical for actionable documentation. Zoom’s AI meeting summary can rapidly become an indispensable tool in these domains, further enriching the quality of education while making learning more accessible than ever.

Conclusion But let’s be clear: ZOOM’s AI-generated meeting summary is far from an issue of convenience; this is a game-changing tool that tackles some of the most critical online education gaps. This feature empowers educators and students to do more with much less by improving retention, accessibility, administrative efficiency, and engagement. I have spent countless hours teaching diverse subjects online, so I believe this feature marks a transformative step into a future where online learning will be effective and deeply enriching.
